Spitalfields & the East End

No area illustrates London’s vibrant cultural mix better than Spitalfields. Centuries of immigration, from French Huguenots and Jewish settlers to Bengali and Somali communities, have shaped this historic East End neighbourhood, giving it a completely unique character.

We’ll explore their stories and discover ghosts of the past. There are dark shadows here too, for these were the streets once stalked by the serial killer Jack the Ripper, who during the Autumn of 1888 brutally killed five local women.

On this walk, we’ll explore this fascinating area and walk the streets of former times, but we’ll also visit one of the best markets in London, see some great street art and celebrate a love of all things vintage.
